Circadian Rhythm
Circadian Rhythm exposes the intimate surroundings of the artist’s bedroom to reveal a daily ritual. The unmade bed shown as both the main subject and setting.
Working from direct observation, Ryan’s interpretations of his bed become a form of figure drawing. The viewer is left with the implications of the human presence evident from the rumpled sheets, opened drawers and scattered belongings. This absence is meant to evoke the psychological uneasiness of being both the voyeur and its object.
